Have You Read Texas State’s Journal of Texas Music History?
The Journal of Texas Music History is published by Texas State University’s Center for Texas Music History which opened in 1999. People from all over the world subscribe to learn more about the rich musical roots and influences that Texas and its varied cultures have had on the world of music. The Center for Texas Music History also supports the John and Robin Dickson Book Series in Texas Music, a weekly show on NPR called This Week in Texas Music History, and an upcoming exhibit in the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin. It’s going to be their largest project yet and will be a virtual road trip through Texas based on the musical roots in each area.
Clearly, they’ve been very busy establishing themselves as a musical authority in the area for the last 12 years. If you’re a student at the college, there are many high demand classes that they teach about the roots of various styles of music. However, the journal is free to anyone that requests it and also can help to provide valuable and interesting knowledge to any music lovers out there. Just email the editor at gh08@txstate.edu to request an issue.
